Rev: October 14, 2025
Job action at Canada Post ceased mail delivery effective September 26th, 2025. Effective October 11th, mail and parcel delivery resumed again in a limited fashion due to rotating strikes.
Like most charities, soliciting and receiving donations through the mail remains a core part of our fundraising activities here at Knowledge. Unfortunately, this job action has occurred at the beginning of our fall fundraising campaign and contest. During last year’s job action, we experienced a notable and concerning decline in donations.
We so appreciate the continued support of donors through this challenging time. Partner donations are vital to our service to British Columbians, funding more than 40% of everything we do.
Where possible, we encourage donors to continue their giving through our secure website or by phone.
Here are ways you can give to keep your partnership current and help Knowledge carry on through this period:
Converting to monthly giving is the best way to avoid any future interruptions in your partnership.
It also avoids hassles with renewal notices or phone calls and you can stop at any time.
We can take a monthly donation by credit card online here.
If you would prefer to set up a monthly direct debit from your bank account please give us a call at 604-431-3222 during business hours (8 am to 4 pm PT) and have a cheque from your account handy when you call.
Monthly giving from your bank account is the most cost-effective way to give, allowing us to direct more of your donation to the service. Please note there is a $5 per month minimum for monthly giving.
If you prefer to donate a single gift, you can give through our secure online donation form here using a credit card.
Not a fan of the Internet? Please phone us anytime to donate by credit card at 604-431-3222 or toll free 1-877-456-6988.
Frequently Asked Questions
How will I get my Tax Receipt during rotating postal strikes?
If you provide a valid email address when you donate, in most cases, you’ll receive an electronic tax receipt immediately for single gifts made online and within a week or two for phoned in gifts. Otherwise, paper tax receipts will follow as mail delivery resumes. However, we anticipate long delays in all mail for the duration of the job action.
Monthly gifts are receipted in February for all donations through 2025.
How will I get the latest issue of K: Magazine during the rotating postal strike?
Following receipt of your donation and within a few days, a digital copy of the latest K: Magazine will be provided via a link in an email (if we have a valid email on file and you have not unsubscribed to emails from Knowledge).
When mail delivery resumes, the most current hard copy will follow through the postal service. However, due to the rotating job action, we anticipate long delays in home delivery of the November/December 2025 issue. We monitor delivery of the magazine across the province and will not be mailing out duplicate copies until we are confident most donors have received the initial mailing.
I mailed a donation but now it’s stuck in the mail. How do I get my partnership renewed?
Please contact us during business hours by phone or anytime by email. We can send you a one-time link to a digital version of the latest magazine. Once the mail resumes and we process your donation, your partnership will be up to date and mailed K: Magazines will continue, subject to anticipated long delays due to rotating strikes.
Toll free 1-877-456-6988 or local 604-431-3222 or partners@knowledge.ca
Can I come pick up the current K: Magazine at your offices?
If your partnership is current, you are welcome to visit our office in Burnaby and pick up the current issue: 4355 Mathissi Place, Burnaby, BC during business hours.
As of October 15th, the November/December 2025 issue is available.
Why did I just get mail from Knowledge asking for a donation? I just gave a gift recently.
With both the strike and the rotating strikes, mail is backed up. We likely created our mailing list before your donation was processed. If so, please accept our thanks for your support and kindly recycle the solicitation you received.
I wanted to mail in my contest entry. How can I get entered in the contest if the mail isn’t being delivered?
Due to the Canada Post strike, Knowledge is introducing a new alternative method of entry (with no purchase required) whereby valid mail-in Contest Entries may be submitted during the length of the Canada Post strike and job action. Please refer to the updated rules at https://www.knowledge.ca/contest for further details but in brief, and for the duration of the Canada Post strike only plus ten (10) business days thereafter, email copies of valid mail-in Contest Entries may be sent as PDFs or JPGs to Knowledge at japancontest@knowledge.ca. All other terms and conditions of the Contest rules continue to apply including rules regarding the Contest Period and the deadlines for Contest Entries. Please note, and for clarity, the foregoing ten (10) business day period after cessation of the Canada Post strike shall not, under any circumstances, extend the Contest Period and all mail-in Contest Entries sent to Knowledge by email must still be received by Knowledge before Monday, November 10, 2025 at 4:00 pm PT. Earlier versions of the rules (including those printed in K: Magazine, Sept/Oct issue and the forthcoming Nov/Dec issue) may not reflect this update so please refer to the rules at https://www.knowledge.ca/contest, which are up to date and current. All capitalized terms in this notice have the meaning given to those terms in the Contest rules at https://www.knowledge.ca/contest.
With the change from full strike to rotating strikes, the above adjustment to the contest rules remains in place.
