André Trindade
Natural Connection
Life in Courtenay is like a big outdoor playground for André Trindade and his family. They love to be outside enjoying nature, whether they’re kayaking and paddleboarding on Comox Lake or enjoying winter snow in the nearby mountains. It’s a true BC experience for André, a proud Brazilian Canadian who moved to the country with his wife Tatiana about ten years ago.
“I tell people that we live in a paradise,” he says. “British Columbia is so amazingly beautiful.”
It was a show about adventures in the rugged backcountry – and the risks that come with it – that first introduced André to Knowledge. A friend told him about Search and Rescue: North Shore and he quickly got hooked on the series. Inspired by the show, André is now a volunteer member of Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue, Station 60 Comox. “It’s another way to contribute to our community in the beautiful waters of the West Coast,” he says.
The Knowledge Original series, British Columbia: An Untold History also made an impact on him with its glimpse into the province’s diverse past. “Knowledge Network is important for all Canadians, but especially, I think, for new Canadians like my family. It’s a great place to learn about our country. There’s also fabulous programming for young kids. You don’t have to worry about advertising or shows that aren’t appropriate for them.”
It was an easy decision for André to move from Knowledge viewer to Knowledge Partner. “I pay a monthly fee for other networks that I don’t even watch. So why not take that money and give it to something that has some meaning and is important to me. I’m really grateful to have this opportunity to be learning every single day.”
