Knowledge Network taps David Van Poppel as its new Senior Manager of Primetime Programming and Acquisitions
Burnaby, B.C. (February 18, 2025) – Knowledge Network is thrilled to announce David Van Poppel as its new Senior Manager of Primetime Programming and Acquisitions. David will lead the strategic sourcing, acquisition, and scheduling of premium Canadian and global content for adult audiences on Knowledge Network’s broadcast channel and streaming service. He steps into this role following the recent retirement of Lawrence Tapley, who played a key role in shaping Knowledge Network’s primetime programming.
"Knowledge Network’s unique, highly curated offering of B.C., Canadian, and international programming enriches minds, fosters understanding, and contributes to a more connected and informed society," said Michelle van Beusekom, President and CEO of Knowledge Network. "David’s extensive programming experience and relationships with Canadian and global distributors, producers, and independent filmmakers will help us build on our success with audiences in B.C. and across Canada. We are very grateful to Lawrence Tapley, whose thoughtful and creative program curation inspired and entertained Knowledge viewers for many years."
David joins Knowledge Network from Spafax Canada, where he was the In-flight Entertainment Content Manager for Air Canada and, more recently, Lufthansa Group. In these roles, he led the acquisition and programming of diverse content, including scripted drama, documentaries, factual series, Canadian features, and short films.
"I am so excited to be joining Knowledge Network in such a meaningful role," said David Van Poppel. "Lawrence was such a powerhouse for the organization, and I feel honored to be continuing his legacy. I look forward to working with this fantastic team to provide our dedicated audiences and new viewers with entertaining, educational, and impactful content."
